Story Plot: PC (player character) looses child in unknown accident. After therapy and proccessing grief, they decided to move to a new town to start over. PC meets landlord who also loses a child (undisclosed) and moves in to house.
Story is designed to explore grief and how it is (or isn’t) processed can affect someone in various ways.
Game Type
At this time its a toss up between turn based jrpg style and being a visual novel.
Creating The Outline
There’s no right or wrong way to make a story. Some people can’t begin working on a project without having a complete outline in full. Others hardly write anything down if at all.
Personally I’m somewhere in the middle. I need to have some semblance of what my game needs to look like. My game development style is Plot Driven; So I create my plot in a general sense and then allow the story to create the characters and everything in it itself.
To outline my plot I’m going to use the bullet list method my friend Pooky Showed me.
it will look something like this:
Start of Chapter (main goal of the chapter)
- Plot Point 1
- Plot Point 2
- Plot Point 3
End of Chapter
Planning out my story this way will allow me to outline my story enough to keep me on track but allow my co-writer Raptor to have the flexibility to fill in the in-betweens with what he feels works with the story!
I’m hoping to make weekly/bi weekly blogs in hopes of keeping myself focused and accountable. I also hope that sharing my process along the way will not only inspire those making their first project but also allow others who may want to give development a try a real time look at the process!
